We knew it was going to be a LONG day when we got up this morning...and it was long in every sense of the word. It's an accepted fact that we all have 24 hours in a day. That's true except when you travel through time zones. Our Sunday lasted 31 hours!
We were all up before 6 am in Belgrade, Serbia (11 pm in MN). We had "bag breakfasts" and 2 cabs waiting for us at the hotel as we headed for the airport at 6:30. We needed to go through multiple security checkpoints at each of the airports that we were in today. We flew in to Paris around 12 pm (5 am in MN). That flight was delayed, so by the time we disembarked, rode a very long shuttle ride, and arrived at our next gate, they were already boarding the plane that would take us to Minneapolis, so we got right in line. That flight was over nine hours long but went fairly quickly due to the wide variety of entertainment that we could each access on the individual screens that we each had mounted in front of us.
We left Paris at 1:50 pm and arrived in Minneapolis at 4 pm (due to crossing 7 time zones). By the time we got through customs, got most of our luggage (Elijah's large checked bag didn't show up and will be delivered to him) it was well after 5:00. Burton & Karin Stoesz graciously picked us all up at the airport. We stopped briefly for some fast food "to go" on the way home and arrived in Mountain Lake around 8 pm.
If you add all that traveling up it came to 21 hours of nonstop traveling; a small price to pay to be able to serve for two weeks at such a wonderful place as Camp Timok! :-)
We are all so thankful for this opportunity and will be excited to share more information about our trip on Sunday, June,23, during the Life Learning time in the gym.
Thank you once again for all of your support!
Sincerely,
The Serbian Mission Team
